The Nursing Assistant program is a 120 clock hour program, providing theoretical and clinical experiences necessary for the student to acquire the entry-level competencies required of a home health aide and Certified Nursing Assistant. Learning experiences, related to specific performance objectives, include formal classroom lectures, discussion, written and oral reports, simulated laboratory periods. It provides the student with job related competencies, employability skills and knowledge of the function, interrelatedness and needs of human body systems. Patient care activities of daily living, health and hygiene are provided for all ages in the health span. This program provides theoretical and clinical experiences to prepare students to take the Certified Nursing Assistant Exam and become certified with the Nurse Aid Registry with the Florida Board of Nursing. Upon certification, Graduates are able to work in hospitals, nursing home agencies , and other healthcare facilities. |

Nursing
Assistant Employment Requirements No person
may work as a Certified Nursing Assistant unless currently licensed by the
State of Florida. In order to obtain this license, a
person must pass the state written exam and graduate from an approved program
of study. Upon completion of the Nursing Assistant
curriculum, the student will be awarded a diploma and
issued an official school transcript acknowledging graduation, which makes
this individual eligible to apply for the Certification Exam. NOTE: Employment
in many health occupations necessitates the ability to pass the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Background Check. An FBI Investigation is required for
Florida residents of fewer than five (5) consecutive years. For
